The distance to the entrance of San Francisco (San Pancho) is 25 miles (40 kilometers) from the airport. There is a four lane highway until shortly past Bucerias, and is then a windy, single lane road thereafter. Rental cars are available at the airport and taxi service as well. We recommend a rental car for your stay at Casa del Cielo, however, it is by no means imperative. We recommend that you visit one of the large grocery stores in Puerto Vallarta to stock up on groceries before driving to San Pancho. The walk into town from the house is approximately fifteen minutes, by street or beach. If you are very organized and don't require frequent trips to town you may be happy without a car. If you spend most of your time relaxing at home then there probably is no need for a car. It is a matter of personal style.
